Lowland drains and drainage canal improvement
This project involves works to improve water quality, ecological health and fish passage within lowland drains and drainage canals that are part of the Lower Kaituna River Scheme.
Bay of Plenty Regional Council will be leading work on this project that contributes to our aim of taking collective responsibility for improving help to improve the health and wellbeing of the Kaituna River and its tributaries. Tangata whenua, landowners, and other agencies will also be involved.
Planned deliverables include:
- Development of a lowland drains rehabilitation plan by 30 June 2022.
- Upgraded pump station at Ford Road by July 2022.
- Implementation of lowland drains rehabilitation plan 2023-28.
