A TĀTOU KAUPAPA - Our PRojects

Kaituna Cyclyway/Walkway Project

This project is closely linked to the Kaituna River access project (Project 11) and involves the connection and/or creation of cycleways and walkways within the Kaituna catchment.

The Western Bay of Plenty District Council will lead this project, which aligns with the Western Bay Cycleway Programme and contributes to our goal of connecting communities and visitors to our river and to our projects.

Careful planning work will ensure that walking and cycling routes are in appropriate locations (i.e. away from sensitive areas such as waahi tapu and fish spawning areas).

Planned deliverables include:

  • Completion of community-led strategy development by 20 June 2022
  • Strategy implementation, including Tauranga Eastern Link to Maketu connection, from 2022-2028.
