Kaituna Catchment Network
mapping Project

This project is intended to support and inform other Te Tini a Tuna Action Plan projects by collating, mapping and sharing visual information about the Kaituna catchment.

Bay of Plenty Regional Council will lead most aspects of this project with Western Bay of Plenty District Council taking the lead on the river access and cycleway components. Other councils will also contribute.

This work will enable Te Maru o Kaituna to better lead or guide projects that improve the care of the awa and make decisions based on robust data, research and monitoring.

Planned deliverables include:

  • Stocktake and collation of available information completed by 30 June 2022.
  • Feasibility studies for our wetland re-creation and habitats network projects completed by 30 June 2022.
  • Feasibility studies for our wetland re-creation and habitats network projects updated by 30 June 2028.
